Red Demon Track and Field places top 2 at Hays Meet.

The Dodge City High School track and field squads opened their seasons this week. The boys and girls junior varsity teams traveled to Larned on Tuesday for the Larned JV Invitational and the varsity squads traveled to Hays on Thursday for the Hays Invitational.

The Hays meet saw the boys team take 1st out of 9 squads with 134 points to second place Hays 116.5 points. The girls took 2^nd out of 8 squads competing with 119 points, Hays won the girls division with 187, Garden City was 3^rd in both divisions.

The boys team saw two new school records set as junior Elliott Williams broke his own record for the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 14.23. The second record was set by the 4 x 100 meter relay team of freshman Trage Pike, freshman Alexander Rodriguez, sophomore Luis Perez and senior Kordell Howard with a time of 41.98.

In the junior varsity meet the boys were first out of 10 schools with 192 points, Great Bend was second with 69 points. The girls were second with 113 points, 15 behind Scott Community’s winning score of 128.
