The Dodge City High School girls golf team finished in sixth place in their first tournament of the season on Monday at Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays. As a team DCHS finished with a team score of 231, which was just three strokes behind Liberal for fifth place.
Head coach Jim Mapel said he felt like his team handled the tough course well but overall the team could have handled it better.
The Red Demons lone medalist was senior Logan Gleason whose score of 51 earned her 10th place.
“She hit the ball well most of the day and she actually had a little bit of a problem on the last hole or she would have finished even higher in the top 10,” Mapel said. “I was really pleased with her effort.”
