Sophomore right fielder Jessica Olivarez was named a MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week on Monday representing the south-central region. Olivarez had a big start to her season, hitting .700 in Dodge City’s first four games off the season with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.
“I’m very proud of her,” head coach Ashley Podschun said. “I’m very pleased with her. She’s been doing a great job in the outfield as well. She’s been doing what she needed to do and when I announced it to the team today, she was a little bashful but I think everyone was pretty proud of her.”
The Lady Demons had their triangle on Tuesday postponed but they will hopefully be back on the diamond on Thursday at Hays.
