Demons win eighth straight

At the midway point of the season, the Dodge City High School boys soccer team’s record remains unsullied.
The Red Demons (8-0, 4-0) defeated the Great Bend Panthers 4-1 to wrap up the first round of Western Athletic Conference play. The goal by the Panthers was the first goal that the Red Demons have conceded to a WAC opponent. Juniors Cesar Alvarez, Mario Martinez and Joshua DonJuan along with senior Antonio De La Torre scored goals for the Red Demons on Thursday. Dodge City will play six of their final eight games at home starting next Tuesday when they host Hutchinson.
GIRLS GOLF
The Red Demon girls golf team placed fourth among the five team Western Athletic Conference meet in Liberal on Thursday afternoon. Dodge City finished with a 188 team score which was just two strokes behind Liberal.
Senior Makena Konrade finished second overall with a 41 while fellow senior Emily Stephenson shot a 46 to earn a 10th place medal.
The Red Demons will travel to Wichita next Wednesday.
