The Dodge City Red Demon boys basketball team turned in an impressive week at the Civic Center, posting a 3–0 record with wins over Cimarron, Kingman, and Garden Plain. Dodge City showed balance, depth, and defensive growth throughout the week while getting contributions from multiple players each night.
Dodge City opened the week on January 2 with a 78–57 win over Cimarron, using a hot shooting start to build early momentum. The Red Demons knocked down 10 three-pointers in the first half and shot 55.6 percent from the field for the game. Dodge City led 48–31 at halftime and maintained control the rest of the way.
The offense was led by Cru Lembright, who scored 28 points, including six three-pointers, while also adding four rebounds and two steals. Ty Scheck and Nathan Schulte each finished with 12 points, and the Red Demons recorded 21 assists as a team, highlighting their ball movement. Defensively, Dodge City forced Cimarron into tough perimeter looks and turned stops into transition points.
The Red Demons followed with a 70–51 victory over Kingman on January 3, leaning on defense and second-half execution. After taking a narrow lead into halftime, Dodge City outscored Kingman 39–23 in the second half, holding the Eagles to just nine points in the fourth quarter.
Ty Scheck led the way with 22 points, attacking the paint and finishing through contact, while Cru Lembright added 20 points, including five three-pointers. Dodge City forced 27 Kingman turnovers and converted them into 25 points, a key factor in pulling away late. The Red Demons also won the rebounding battle 38–36, continuing to show improvement on the glass.
Dodge City closed the week on January 6 with a 65–48 win over Garden Plain, a physical team that challenged the Red Demons inside. After trailing by one at the end of the first quarter, Dodge City responded with strong defensive effort and rebounding, holding Garden Plain to just 17 points in the second half.
The Red Demons dominated the boards 41–28 and outscored Garden Plain 13–3 in second-chance points. Ty Scheck again paced the offense with 29 points, while Cru Lembright recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Dodge City also received solid contributions from its bench, which outscored Garden Plain 15–7.
The Red Demons’ ability to score in different ways and respond to physical play highlighted a productive week as they continue to build momentum heading into the next stretch of the season. They travel to Cheney on Friday and then take on Rose Hill on Saturday at Friends University.
