Dodge City finished just one point behind Garden City on Saturday at the Buffaloes home tournament.
The Red Demons were without senior Hannah Sowers and Daniela Villarreal, who played No. 1 singles for Cimarron on Saturday. Villarreal made it to the championship match where she squared off with teammate Leah Stein. Stein took first place but because Villarreal was playing for the Blue Jays, her nine team points went to Cimarron.
Marin Dameron filled in at No. 2 singles where she also finished first overall. The No. 2 doubles team of Abigail Argumedo and Kameron Lowery came in second to Garden City’s Alexis Powell and Carson Linenberger.
‘So far this season we have had a different line up every single tennis meet,’ Dodge City head coach David Snodgrass said. ‘With each line-up we have been able to learn more about ourselves and grow as a team.’
The Red Demons will travel to Hutchinson on Thursday.
