The Dodge City Red Demons won their second-straight game on Friday with a 51-7 victory over Great Bend.
After struggling defensively to start the season, the Red Demons (3-2, 2-0) have turned it around to start their Western Athletic Conference schedule. The seven points scored by Great Bend (3-2, 1-2) was a season-low for the Panthers. Dodge City has only allowed seven-points in WAC play so far this season.
“Our defense was the key tonight,” head coach Dave Foster said during his post game radio interview. “Our offense is going to take advantage of short fields and that’s what we were handed early. Our defense played extremely well.”
The Red Demons forced two fumbles and blocked a punt in the first quarter to jump ahead of Great Bend 27-7.
Through five games, Dodge City has been arguably the most explosive offensive team in the state, averaging close to 53 points per game.
