Red Demons baseball team swept by Liberal

After sweeping Hutchinson April 13, the Dodge City Red Demons baseball team lost both Tuesday night games to the Liberal Redskins by scores of 7-4 and 8-2.
In game one, Blaine Winans finished with a team-high two RBIs. Omar DonJuan also batted one in. Scoring-wise, Keanin Camacho had a team-high two runs, with Adrian Mendoza and Noah Sowers also scoring. Winans, Donjuan, Mendoza, Sowers and Wyatt Childress all combined for the only Red Demon hits in game one.
The Redskins jumped out to an early lead in
the bottom of the first inning, scoring three runs after holding Dodge City scoreless in the top of the inning. Dodge City scored one run in the second, and two in the top of the fourth, but Liberal answered, scoring two more in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth.
Each team scored one more run in their half of the sixth inning before Liberal held Dodge City scoreless in the top of the seventh to end game one.
In game two, Dodge City took an early lead, scoring a run in the top of the first and one in the third to take a 2-0 lead, but Liberal scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead. The Redskins expanded their lead to four runs with two in the fifth
to make the lead 6-2, and scored two more in the sixth to take the final 8-2 lead.
The Red Demons recorded four hits in game two, with Kaden Riekenberg, Childress, Mendoza and Alden Knedler all recording a single hit each.
Riekenberg and Childress scored the only runs for the Red Demons, with Knedler and Mendoza getting the only RBIs in game two.
The Red Demons next play Friday at 3 p.m. when they head to Garden City to take on the Buffaloes in a doubleheader.
