The Dodge City High School Red Demon Swim Team turned in a strong overall performance at the Garden City Boys Invite on December 18, finishing second as a team with 322 points in a tightly contested meet. Dodge City narrowly trailed Hutchinson (345 points) and finished ahead of Garden City (314 points).
The Red Demons were led by an outstanding day from Easton Steiner, who captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.06) and followed it up with another victory in the 500-yard freestyle (5:48.09). Steiner also anchored the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay, helping Dodge City secure a key team win to close the meet.
Dodge City showed its depth early in the meet, placing both relay teams in the 200-yard medley relay, with the “A” relay finishing fourth. In individual events, Jacoby Sutton delivered a pair of strong performances, placing second in the 200 freestyle and winning the 100 freestyle (1:00.97). Jordan Schneweis also had a strong meet, earning second place in the 200 IM and contributing to multiple relays.
Sprint events were another bright spot, as Jameson Sutton and Alejandro Guerrero combined for multiple scoring finishes, while several Red Demons posted season-best times across the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
Relay swimming proved to be a major strength for Dodge City. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Easton Steiner, Jacoby Sutton, Itzaid Ruiz Millan, and Jordan Schneweis finished third, and the meet concluded with a highlight performance in the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Dodge City took first place with a time of 4:12.13.
Overall, the Red Demons demonstrated strong balance across individual races and relays, scoring consistently throughout the lineup. The coaching staff was pleased with the team’s competitiveness, effort, and continued improvement as the season moves forward.
The Red Demons will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for upcoming meets later in the season.
