The Red Demons split a doubleheader with Thomas More Prep-Marian on Monday.
With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, Dodge City scored four runs on itswaytoa6-1win.Senior Bryce Unruh pitched all seven innings for the Red Demons in game one.
In game two, Dodge City had an opportunity to get back in the game. Trailing 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning, they could not capitalize with bases loaded. The Red Demons dropped the second game of the afternoon 11-3.
Dodge City (3-3, 0-2) will host Wichita Southeast on Friday.
TRACK & FIELD
The Dodge City girls took first place while the Red Demon boys earned second at the Liberal Invitational on Friday.
Senior Brekk Flax finished ahead of the pack in the girls 100 meter and 200 meter dash. Fellow senior Jessica Harshberger earned three individual first place medals. The two seniors also earned first place medals as part of relay teams.
The girls team scored 178 team points.
The Red Demon boys scored 106 points on the way to a second place finish.
Senior Tyler Trent took home a first place medal in the boys long jump for the second meet in a row. The 4x800meterteamofMarcelo Cruz, Felix Marquez, Ignacio Calderon and Jason Luft also earned took first place for the second time this season.
GIRLS SOCCER
The Red Demon girls (4-3, 3-0) continued their strong start to Western Athletic Conference play onMondaywitha5-0win at Great Bend.
Sophomore Mariyah Reyes scored three goals for Dodge City. In their first three games of WAC play, the Red Demons have outscored their conference opposition 11-2.
Dodge City will travel to Wichita South on Friday.
