Lady Demons Show Growth on Weekend Road Trip
The Dodge City High School Lady Demons completed a demanding weekend road trip with two competitive games against Manhattan and Junction City, gaining valuable experience and showing continued progress as the season moves forward.
Friday at Manhattan
On Friday night, the Lady Demons faced a talented Manhattan team, falling 64–23 in a challenging road environment. Dodge City worked through early adversity and continued to compete throughout the game, showing improved execution as the night went on.
Addisyn Taylor paced the Lady Demons with 10 points, while Emily Gutierrez added 7 points. Piper Mellinger contributed on the boards with 6 rebounds, and the team continued to battle defensively while gaining important experience against a quality opponent.
Saturday at Junction City
The Lady Demons responded positively on Saturday afternoon, earning a 52–46 victory at Junction City behind a balanced team effort and strong play on the glass.
Piper Mellinger led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, recording a double-double. Emma Bell and Emily Gutierrez each scored 13 points, with Bell also collecting 9 rebounds. Kale Culwell added 9 rebounds, helping Dodge City secure a 49–43 advantage on the boards.
Dodge City stayed consistent throughout the game, using teamwork, effort, and poise to close out the win. The Lady Demons made key plays in the final quarter and showed composure in a close contest.
Lady Demons return to action on Friday at home against Lakin before the Christmas Break.
