Lady Demon Wrestling Triumphs Over Great Bend in WAC Wrestling Dual

In a riveting WAC Wrestling Dual that unfolded on the mat at Great Bend High School, the defending WAC Champion Lady Demon wrestlers secured an early season victory over Great Bend with a final score of (48-30).
The action-packed dual kicked off with the 100-pound weight class, where Elizabeth Ramirez from Dodge City HS claimed a hard-fought victory over Kayle Baldwin of Great Bend HS with a final score of [6-2], setting the tone for a competitive night of wrestling.
Great Bend responded with a powerful performance at the 105-pound weight class, as Camdyn Post secured a fall over Miranda Alvarez from Dodge City HS in an impressive 1 minute and 40 seconds. The home team took an early lead at (6-3), but it would be the last lead of the night for the host Panthers.
Momentum swung back and forth as Alea Smith of Dodge City HS won by forfeit at 110 pounds, followed by Ashley Alonso from Dodge City HS quickly securing a fall at 115 pounds, putting the Lady Demons back in the lead for good. The 120-pound weight class saw Yessenia Castro from Dodge City HS earning a decisive [8-2] victory over Braelyn Turner of Great Bend HS, as the Lady Demons continued to build on their lead.
Great Bend fought back with determination earning a fall at 130, but Hailey Ramos quickly stomped out the momentum with a pin at 135.
Dodge City HS responded with a series of falls at 140, 145, and 155 pounds, with Alejandra Delarosa, Yareli Garcia, and Liliana Arroyo Alba securing crucial points for the Lady Demons. The 170-pound weight class witnessed Kirra Stevens of Great Bend HS securing a fall over Erika Sandoval. Great Bend won their final match of the evening at 190. The Lady Demons sealed the victory with a fall at 235, courtesy of Yasmin Lopez Chavez.
The Lady Demon wrestling team will finish the fall semester at the 40-team Basehor-Linwood Tournament this weekend.
