Conference Games Begin
The Dodge City High School Red Demons will be looking to begin conference play on a positive note as they prepare to host the Liberal High School Redskins this Friday night at Memorial Stadium. Dodge City lost its second close game to a City League opponent – Wichita Heights, 53-48, in Week number three, while Liberal lost its’ conference opener versus Hays, 29-0. Dodge City will host Hays in week 6, after making a trip to Great Bend (who lost to GC last Friday night, 42- 28) in week five.
Series History
The Red Demons have faced the Redskins 88 times, dating back to the 1919 season. The Demons lead the series 48- 37, with three ties. The Red Demons won last year’s contest 52-20, and have won four of the past five from the Redskins. The series was not played from 1949-1956, but has been played every year since.
This will be the first WAC contest of the year for Dodge City, and the first of three straight conference contests before entering District play in week seven. Garden City and Hays both picked up conference wins last week over Great Bend and Liberal, respectfully. Garden City plays at Hays in the other WAC contest this week.
Dodge City High School will be celebrating Homecoming at halftime on Friday night.
