The Hays Indians scored early and often, making six 3s in the first quarter and making seven points off three Red Demon turnovers. They took a 30-12 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Indians expanded their lead to 48-24 to end the first half. Overall, they shot 46.9 percent, which included hitting 12 3-pointers.
Dodge City shot 29.7 percent in the loss, committing three fewer turnovers than Hays, but only managing eight points of them. Hays also shot 11 of 12 from the free-throw line.
Hays senior Cole Murphy had a game-high 27 points for the Indians, and senior Ethan Nunnery had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior Hunter Heath led the way for the Red Demons with a double-double of his own on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Red Demons ended up losing 83-63.
