The Dodge City Lady Demon wrestling program hit the road on Saturday and emerged victorious at the Valley Center Tournament, clinching their fourth consecutive title.
The standout performer of the tournament was Elizabeth Ramirez, who made an early-season breakthrough with victories over two ranked opponents and last year’s state runner-up, Mykayle Sutton from Salina South. She completed her perfect day winning the 100 Championship match over Kaira Acosta of Garden City.
The successful opening weekend continued for Dodge City with Miranda Alvarez at 105. Alvarez secured first place after decisive victories in each round, culminating in a fall over Natalie Puentes of Campus in the 1st Place Match.
Ashley Alonso’s first-place finish in the 110 weight class gave the Lady Demons three of the first four championships. Hailey Ramos captured the title at 135 over Brooke Downs of Derby.
At 125, Delfina Lux reached the championship match but faced tough competition, ultimately securing 2nd place after a fall to Maya Tarbet from Garden City.
At 130, Ariana De La Rosa collected a 3rd place medal defeating Madisyn Riley of Salina South. Dayana Garcia finished fourth at 140, while Yareli Garcia defeated Katie Gutierrez of Hays for the Championship at 145. In a gripping showdown at 155, Liliana Arroyo emerged triumphant, winning the 1st Place Match by decision over fellow Demon Yoselin Rubio.
Naomi Orozco capped off the tournament in style, dominating the Girls 190 category and securing 1st place with falls over her opponents in each round, including a decisive victory over Braylie Knisely of Douglass in the championship match.
Dodge City’s collective effort and individual triumphs showcased their prowess on the wrestling mat, leaving a lasting impression at the Valley Center Tournament.
