- The Dodge City High School Red Demons will visit the Liberal High School Redskins this Friday night in an early season WAC matchup.
- This is the 94th meeting in this storied rivalry. The series was not played from 1949-1956, but—excluding those dates—has been played every year since 1919. Dodge City leads the series 52-38-3.
- The Red Demons are 8-2 in the Foster era versus the Redskins. Both teams are looking for their first win of the young season.
- Dodge City and Garden City will play for the Hatchet in Week #3, the earliest the game has been played since the 1964 season.
- Only three 6A West schools are 1-0 after Week 1. Seven 6A West schools have yet to play a game this fall.
