For the first time since 2015, the Dodge City Red Demons have the Hatchet.
On a night in which talented seniors like Evan Darville and Marcos Fisher played their final game of the classic rivalry, defense and the ground game proved dominant for the Red Demons, and the offense went turnover free, beating Garden City 27-7.
In the first half, it went all the Red Demons way. After Garden City deferred, the Red Demons drove down the field and scored on a quarterback run by junior Beau Foster.
He wasn’t done. After a Garden City fumble, Foster took it again following back-to-back runs by Red Demon senior Jaiel Johnson to make the score 13-0 Dodge City following a made extra point.
A couple of drives later, Johnson got free on a long run, taking the ball more than 30 yards and into the endzone to give the Red Demons a 20-0 halftime lead.
