The Dodge City offense was able to move the ball but the defense struggled to contain the Wichita West running backs in the season opener on Friday. The Red Demons fell to the Pioneers 48-41.
West scored all six of their touchdowns on the ground which included an 83-yard, 54-yard and 42-yard touchdown runs. Senior running back Dominick Jones finished with three touchdowns for Wichita West.
“We got whipped up front,” head coach Dave Foster said. “At times we just couldn’t get it done. I don’t know that we have an identity offensively or defensively at this point. We’re scratching our heads right now because the plan of design offensively and defensively didn’t work.”
