DCHS Swimming
The Lady Demons’ swim team finished 2nd on Monday at the Hays Girl’s Invitational with an overall team score of 512. Campus High School took first, scoring 512 team points. Dodge City had multiple first place finishes including Hannah Sowers finishing atop the leader board in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle, Gabby Mendoza finishing first in the 200 yard IM, Grace Harvey finishing first in the 100 yard backstroke and the relay team consisting of Sowers, Harvey, Ali Phelps and Payton Magouirk finishing first in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
The Lady Demons will hit the road again to compete in a meet in Great Bend on Friday.
DCHS Softball
Dodge City added another two road wins to their collection on Tuesday as they swept Ulysses 14-12 and 22-1. The wins move the Lady Demons to 9-3 on the season and help rebound from last weeks sweep from conference foe Great Bend. Game one was back-and-fourth throughout the entire seven innings. Down two going into the 7th, Dodge City turned three hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch into a two-run lead allowing senior pitcher Emily Stephenson and the defense to shut Ulysses down in the bottom of the inning to get the win.
Game two marked the fourth time this season that Dodge City has scored 20 or more runs in a game as the Lady Demons wrapped
up the sweep after only four innings. After 10 straight games on the road, Dodge City will return home next Tuesday to take on rival Garden City.
DCHS Girl’s Soccer
The Dodge City girl’s soccer remains undefeated in conference play after holding on to a 1-1 tie on the road versus rival Garden City. The tie was their second of the season and they are now 6-2-2 overall this season and 3-0-1 in WAC play. Lilliana Vazquez scored the Lady Demons only goal. The Lady Demons will play their third of four straight road games on Thursday when they take on Great Bend.
