Dodge City High School has finalized the Varsity Basketball schedule for the upcoming season. Entering the 115th season for Red Demon Basketball, and 46th season for the Lady Demons, the non-conference portion of the schedule features a much different looking start to the season for the Red Demons.
The season begins with the Cowboy Capital Classic sponsored by Gibson’s Pharmacy to be held at the Dodge City Civic Center on December 4-5. This will be the first time since the 2011 TOC that DCHS has played at the Civic Center. The following week the Red Demons travel to Goodland for the Topside Invitational Tournament. A trip to the historic Round House in McPherson will be the last action of 2020 for both programs.
The 78th annual Tournament of Champions sponsored by Western Plains Medical Complex is scheduled for the third full week of January. The Lady Demons will travel the following week to compete at the McPherson Invitational.
The Red Demon Basketball program will have a new Head Coach in Shane Traughber. He is taking over a program with seven Final Four appearances and an all-time record of 1407- 895. Kelley Snodgrass begins her ninth season as the Head Coach of the Lady Demons. She is approaching coaching milestones in wins (92) and longevity (nine seasons). The Lady Demons have been to the state tournament 12 times with the last trip being in 2016.
