The Dodge City boys cross country has been one of the most dominant squads in the state for a majority of the season. It was no different this past Saturday at Newton. The Red Demon runners took first place in Newton with a team score of 41. Four Dodge City runners finished in the top-10.
“The guys are starting to run with confidence in their ability,” boys head coach Buc Bolmer said. “ They understand that when they keep pushing when it gets hard they see the results in their time and their placing as a team.”
The girls team also took first place out at Newton. The Red Demons just edged out Valley Center who took fourth place in last year’s 5A state meet. Five Dodge City runners finished in the top-20.
“We were able to beat a very good Valley Center team,” girls head coach Brian Lenz said. “Our depth once again paid off as we had a fourth different girl lead our team and we won on the sixth runner tie breaker. We have one more meet until we get to the important part of our season and the girls are really beginning to focus on what lies ahead for us.”
Both teams will be back n action this Saturday at Salina Central.
