The Dodge City girls tennis team played well in the Garden City Invitational Thursday, finishing second as a team after finishing sixth in Salina, Kansas earlier in the week.
Red Demons head coach David Snodgrass said it was nice to get the team some tough competition in Salina before returning to western Kansas where the team can get back to finding success.
The Red Demons were led in singles by seniors Leah Stein and Marissa Wissar. Stein finished first in the No. 1 singles, while Wissar finished third in the No. 2 singles.
The team also had a strong showing in Doubles, with Kameron Lowery and Mireya Chacon finishing sixth in the No. 1 doubles, while Victoria Garcia and Jordyn Trombley finished third in the No. 2 doubles.
The team next heads to the Hutchinson Fairgrounds Tennis Complex for an invitational there on Thursday, before returning home for the Western Athletic Conference meet Oct. 2.
