Lady Demon Tennis Earns 4th at Home Invitational

The Lady Demon Tennis team hosted their annual home invitational and battled through a competitive field, finishing 4th overall with 42 team points. Great Bend took the team title with 60 points, followed by Garden City (48) and Liberal (44).

In singles play, Valeria Reyes turned in a solid day, going 2-2 to place 6th, while teammate Katie Rouse also fought hard, finishing 7th with a 2-2 record. Karley Webb and Lauren Bell also competed in singles, finishing just outside the Top 10.

On the doubles side, Yaremy Macias and Marisol Banuelos highlighted the day for the Lady Demons, earning a 3rd-place finish after going 3-1. The duo of Addy Taylor and Emma Bell also picked up valuable wins, finishing 11th with a 2-2 record.

The Lady Demons showed consistency across the board and continue to gain valuable experience as they move deeper into the fall season. They are scheduled to be back in action on Thursday in Derby.

Red Demons Drop Hard-Fought Home Opener to Liberal

Coming off an 8-0 victory on Saturday against Wichita Trinity, the Dodge City Red Demon Soccer team opened their home slate with a battle against the Liberal Redskins on Tuesday night. In a match that saw momentum swing back and forth, the Red Demons came up short, falling 3-1.

After a scoreless first half, the intensity ramped up in the final 40 minutes. Liberal broke the deadlock with the first goal of the match, but Dodge City refused to back down. In the 73rd minute, Alejandro Marquez broke through the defense and delivered the equalizer, firing the Red Demon faithful into celebration as the match leveled at 1-1.

With the game hanging in the balance, the final minutes proved decisive. Liberal capitalized on their late chances, netting two goals in the last five minutes to pull away and seal the 3-1 result.

Though the scoreboard favored the visitors, the Red Demons showed grit and fight in their home opener, setting the stage for a competitive season ahead. The Red Demons move to 4-1 on the season and drop to 0-1 in Western Athletic Conference play. Dodge City is back in WAC action on Thursday when they travel to Hays to take on the Indians.

We will kick off with two camp days. Day 1 will be an Offense fundamental practice with Red Demon Coaches and Players. Day 2 will be a Defense fundamental practice with Red Demon Coaches and Players.  

Following the second practice, your player will be placed on a team coached by Red Demon football players to play flag football. Teams will practice with their coaches on Tuesdays and play games on Thursdays. The last session will be flag games on a Tuesday night.

We will have as many games going as possible on the grass practice fields at DCHS and get as many games in as we can from 6:00-7:30.

Demon Athletes Find the Podium

The Dodge City High School Track & Field team finished their season this past weekend on the campus of Wichita State University at the KSHSAA State Championships. The Red Demons set four school records and finished in a tie for 10th place with 23 points.

Elliott Williams led the Red Demons with three state medals: 2nd in the 300m hurdles, 4th in the 110m hurdles, and 4th in the 4x400m Relay. The Dodge City sophomore broke the individual record in both hurdle events and was a member of the record breaking 4x400m relay team.

The Red Demon 4x100m relay team also set the school record on Saturday, finishing in 4th place.

The Lady Demons found the podium twice with Emma Bell and Lily Pfaff in the 100m hurdles finishing 7th & 8th.
