The Dodge City High School Red Demons wrapped up a challenging weekend on the road with games against Manhattan on Friday night and Junction City on Saturday afternoon. Facing two strong opponents away from home, the Red Demons continued to compete, share the basketball, and gain valuable experience early in the season.

Friday at Manhattan
Dodge City opened the weekend in Manhattan, where the Red Demons battled throughout the game before falling 76–54. The contest was competitive early, with Dodge City trailing by just one point after the first quarter before Manhattan pulled away with a strong third period.

Isai Reyes led the Red Demons with 15 points, scoring efficiently inside and at the free-throw line. Rase Smith added 11 points, while Cru Lembright chipped in 7 points. Ty Scheck contributed across the board with 5 points and 5 assists, and the Red Demons finished the night with 15 team assists, showing good ball movement.

Saturday at Junction City
On Saturday, Dodge City took on Junction City and continued to battle despite the difficult road environment, falling 65–46. The Red Demons showed good shooting from the perimeter and stayed aggressive throughout the game.

Cru Lembright led Dodge City with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Nathan Schulte added 9 points, all from beyond the arc, while Ty Scheck finished with 8 points. Isai Reyes contributed in multiple areas with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Red Demons continued to attack offensively, earning trips to the free-throw line and creating scoring opportunities off turnovers. Defensively, Dodge City stayed active and continued to compete through all four quarters.

While the results did not go Dodge City’s way, the weekend provided valuable lessons and growth opportunities. The Red Demons will look to build on these experiences as they prepare for upcoming games and continue developing as a team.

Lady Demons Show Growth on Weekend Road Trip

The Dodge City High School Lady Demons completed a demanding weekend road trip with two competitive games against Manhattan and Junction City, gaining valuable experience and showing continued progress as the season moves forward.

Friday at Manhattan
On Friday night, the Lady Demons faced a talented Manhattan team, falling 64–23 in a challenging road environment. Dodge City worked through early adversity and continued to compete throughout the game, showing improved execution as the night went on.

Addisyn Taylor paced the Lady Demons with 10 points, while Emily Gutierrez added 7 points. Piper Mellinger contributed on the boards with 6 rebounds, and the team continued to battle defensively while gaining important experience against a quality opponent.

Saturday at Junction City
The Lady Demons responded positively on Saturday afternoon, earning a 52–46 victory at Junction City behind a balanced team effort and strong play on the glass.

Piper Mellinger led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, recording a double-double. Emma Bell and Emily Gutierrez each scored 13 points, with Bell also collecting 9 rebounds. Kale Culwell added 9 rebounds, helping Dodge City secure a 49–43 advantage on the boards.

Dodge City stayed consistent throughout the game, using teamwork, effort, and poise to close out the win. The Lady Demons made key plays in the final quarter and showed composure in a close contest.

Dodge City vs. Wichita West — December 2, 2025

The Red Demons opened the season with a fast-paced, competitive game against Wichita West. The team showcased their offensive firepower and tenacity, pushing the Pioneers to the final moments in a thrilling matchup.

Senior Ty Scheck led the way with 39 points, including five three-pointers and 10 rebounds, demonstrating his versatility and leadership. Cru Lembright recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Isai Reyes contributed 6 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals, making an impact on both ends of the floor.

The team’s shooting was strong early, hitting eight three-pointers in the first half and shooting 57% from the field, taking a 52–43 lead into halftime. Dodge City’s energy and effort throughout the game set the tone for the season and gave fans plenty to be excited about.

Dodge City vs. Spearville — December 6, 2025

Final: Dodge City 81, Spearville 45

The Red Demons followed up with a confident and well-rounded performance against Spearville, securing their first win of the season. Dodge City dominated on both ends of the court, combining strong defense with balanced scoring.

Senior Isai Reyes had a perfect shooting night, scoring 16 points, while Ty Scheck added 15 points. Cru Lembright and Jaiden Garcia helped keep the offense flowing, contributing both scoring and playmaking.

The Red Demons showcased depth and teamwork, with nine players scoring and the bench contributing 39 points. The team forced 27 turnovers, converting them into fast-break points and controlling the pace of the game. Dodge City shot 53.6% from the field and an impressive 44% from three, highlighting efficient and disciplined offensive execution.
