The Dodge City boys cross country team continued their strong start to the season with a first-place finish on Saturday at Rim Rock in Lawrence. Marcelo Cruz and Jason Luft paced the Red Demons finishing in sixth and ninth place. Dodge City finished with a team score of 171 and edged out Olathe-South who had a score of 180.
“It was a good experience to get acquainted with the state course with a goal of ours to be there at the end of October,” head coach Buc Bolmer said. “I am hoping we can use this as a building block to continue to improve since we are at our halfway mark. I am very proud of how much they have improved this season.”
Down in Stillwater, Oklahoma the girls team finished in 13th place out. There were 46 school present and 289 total runners. Jasmine Duarte led the way finishing in 61st. Marissa Ramirez, Alexis Jiminez and Mariela Aldaba all finished in the top-100.
Both squads will be back in action this Saturday at Newton Centennial Park.
