KSHSAA Regional Track & Field

Due to the possibility of adverse weather conditions, the start of the Regional Track & Field Championships has been changed to 1:00 p.m.

Dodge City High School will host the 2017 Regional Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 18, at the Memorial Stadium Track Complex.

The complex includes an 8-lane synthetic surface and 2,500 seats on the east side of the facility for teams and spectators. The finish line is located on the NE section of the track.

Dodge City High School will host the 2017 WAC Track & Field Championships at the Memorial Stadium Track Complex. This year’s meet will be the 32nd year for the event. The Memorial Stadium complex includes an 8- lane synthetic surface and 2,500 seats on each side of the facility for teams and spectators. The finish line is located on the NE section of the track. Concessions will be located on the EAST side of the Stadium.

In 2016, the Garden City High School Lady Buffaloes won the girl’s title for the sixth time in school history, and for the fifth time in a row. Great Bend has collected six titles, Garden City has six titles, Hays has four titles, and Dodge City has two titles.

On the boy’s side, the title was won by Garden City for the first time in school history. Dodge City has won four titles – including the inaugural meet championship, Great Bend has collected one title, Hays has won eight titles, and Liberal has won 17 titles.

Liberal still holds the record for most championships (13 – Girls / 11 straight); (17 – Boys / 16 straight).

74th Annual Tournament of Champions

Dodge City High School will host the 74th Annual Tournament of Champions sponsored by Western Plains Medical Complex on January 19, 20 & 21. The tournament will be hosted at the United Wireless Arena. Participating teams are Dodge City (6A), Derby (6A), Shawnee Mission South (6A), Wichita North (6A), Holcomb (4A), Junction City (5A), Newton (5A) & Bishop Carroll (5A).

Reserved seat tickets for the tournament are on sale now at the United Wireless Arena box office. Reserved seats are available for all three days. The general admission prices are $7/day. Tickets are also available online at ticketmaster.com.

The TOC Team Breakfast, sponsored by the Dodge City Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will be held at 8:30 AM on Saturday morning at Dodge City High School. This year’s speaker will be former Kansas State Wildcat football standout, Morgan Burns. The breakfast is open to the general public. Tickets may be purchased in the DCHS Athletic Office or at the Tournament.

An awards ceremony will follow the championship game on Saturday evening. The awards will include; Most Inspirational Player, Team Sportsmanship, Individual Sportsmanship, Coaches Sportsmanship, All-Academic Team for basketball players & cheerleaders, Individual All Tournament Basketball team and Cheerleaders, and the Tournament Trophy presentations.
