Points left on the field and a Dodge City team that refused to give up resulted in an overtime win for the Demons over the Wichita Heights Falcons, 26-23.

Defense kept both teams scoring to just one touchdown apiece in the first half with Dodge holding a one-point lead at halftime after stopping the Falcons when they tried for a two-point PAT.

Dodge kept the lead with a field goal in the third quarter, but Heights answered with a touchdown to leave the Demons down 13-10 at the end of the third.

Each team scored a touchdown in the fourth, then Dodge tied the game with a Jose Valverde 49-yard field goal with about a minute and half to go.

The Dodge defense came out strong in overtime and held Heights to a field goal while the Demons scored a touchdown for a final score of Dodge City 26, Heights 23.

The Dodge City High School football program will travel to Wichita this Friday night as the Red Demons meet the Wichita Heights Falcons at Heights Stadium.

• This will be the 16th meeting all-time between the two schools.
• The teams have met 13 times in the regular season and twice in the post-season,with Heights taking both playoff victories.
• Heights has played one of the tougher schedules to open the 2019 campaign, losing to Maize South in Week one and Bishop Carroll in week two.
• This is the last meeting for the Falcons and Red Demons in the current series. The teams have played for eight consecutive seasons. Dodge City will play Wichita South next year in week three and Bishop Carroll in week four.
• Next week is Homecoming Week for the Red Demons as they welcome undefeatedGreat Bend to Memorial Stadium to open Western Athletic Conference play.

The Dodge City High School football program will host Salina South this Friday night as the Red Demons meet the Cougars at Memorial Stadium.

• The Red Demons opened the 1985 & 1986 seasons by playing both Salina schools, Central and South, in the first two weeks of the season.
• The Red Demons hold a 10-2 series advantage over the Cougars. The Red Demons won last season in Salina (27-17).
• The closest game played in the series was a 20-19 DC win in 1975.
• The DCHS Alumni Association will be inducting former Red Demon great, Mike Montgomery, to the Ring of Honor at Halftime. Montgomery played at KSU, before going on to play in the NFL.
• The next home game for the Red Demons will be Homecoming vs Great Bend.

The Dodge City High School football program will begin its fall campaign this Friday night as the Red Demons meet the Haysville Campus Colts at Colt Stadium.

• The Red Demons will face Campus High School for the third time in school history,and for the second consecutive year in the season opener for both schools.
• Dodge City Football is 76-31-2 in season openers since 1910.
• Dave Foster enters this 10th season as the Head Coach at DCHS with a 6-3 record in debut games.
• This season marks the 120th season for Red Demon Football with an overall recordof 623-359-31.
• Week Two will be the home opener for the Red Demons vs Salina South. Thiswill also be the annual DCHS Alumni Association Ring of Honor Game.
