Red Demons fall to Great Bend in WAC Boys Wrestling Dual

In the first WAC Boys Wrestling Dual of the season, the home team emerged victorious with a final score of (50-30) over the Red Demons.
The night kicked off at the 106-pound weight class, where Finn Martinez from Dodge City put the Demons up (6-0) as Great Bend was open. Dodge City’s next win came with a pin by Raymond Hernandez at 126 pounds – knotting the dual up (12-12) after four matches.
The seesaw battle continued, with notable wins from both sides. Kaiden Hoffman of Great Bend HS secured a pin at 132 pounds, while Dylan Wainscott of Dodge City HS answered back with a fall at 138 pounds. Ramses Ruiz secured at pin at 144 and gave the Red Demons the lead after seven matches (24-18).
The tension escalated at the 165-pound weight class, where Michael Montoya of Great Bend HS triumphed over Anndy Rosales from Dodge City HS in a thrilling sudden victory round with a score of 13-11. This pivotal win extended Great Bend’s lead. The Demons would struggle past that point with the only win coming from a Jayden Amaro third period pin at 175.
Despite a valiant effort from both teams, the dual concluded with Great Bend emerging victorious in the first WAC dual for either team this season. The Red Demons are next up at the Bishop Carroll Tournament on Saturday in Wichita.
